Recent meta-analyses show that low-dose lithium has comparable or even superior efficacy to modern anti-amyloid antibodies in Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment. Lithium has a multimodal neuroprotective effect, is well tolerated, inexpensive and could represent a promising option in Alzheimer's prevention and treatment.
